Treasures in Jars of Clay
December 9, 2009
If our heavenly Father allows us to be persecuted it is because we are willing to make the sacrifice. We will not be abandoned to it. We will not be victims. We will willingly choose like Christ to drink the cup or not. We will be given the strength, the power to choose and then to pour ourselves out.
The enemy and the world may see us as lowly, abandoned vessels made of clay. But we are not lost, abandoned victims and we are not overwhelmed or unaware. We are our Father’s treasures: resolved, steadfast in our faith and willing to sacrifice our comfort, our freedom and even our lives for a cause greater than our own; for the Kingdom.
Remembered the scene from Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe where Aslan is sacrificed: the witch and her minions rejoice and mock him before and after they kill him but they could not see that their victory was hollow and that by Aslan choosing to give his life for Edmond the price had been paid; the witch had lost her power forever.
2 Corinthians 4:7-9 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair, persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
