Bring us home again

Lord bring us home again where we belong.

Let our homes again be a sanctuary where You can be worshiped and where we can minister to one another. Let not our homes be just places we go to eat, sleep and change our clothes but the center of our lives where we can keep our eyes firmly fixed on You. Let our homes be used as a refuge for our families and for the lost and hurting to be brought to where they can be filled with Your love and receive Your grace; so they can hear the truth about who You are and who they can be with You in their lives.

Bring us home and help us let go of worldy things; lifestyles that have been a poor and often destructive substitute for the living water and the new life You offer us instead. Please help us to begin our walk with You in our own homes lest we be tempted to focus instead on anything else first; even our church. Bring us back to our neighborhoods, our communitities; to those that are hurting next door, down the street and help us to resist the temptation to stay secluded in our church with those who think, talk and look like us.

Help us to reach out to those beyond our comfort zone and give us courage to speak the truth in love to those You send us to.

Matthew 9:35-38

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless like sheep without a shephard. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest therefore to send out workers into His harvest field.”
